Assignment-6A
Economic trend 1:
Baby Boomers not retiring:
While I did find this trend off of a webpage named “The
Balance,” I actually have noticed this recently by observing the amount of
aged men and women still working. There are a few reasons for this, but one key
fact is that the fear of another recession keeps lingering in the
back of their minds. Witnessing it myself in my own city back home, I can
say first hand that an opportunity exists. I notice that less people are retiring,
and more young people are making sure they have a set future down the road. I
think the customer who is most likely going to have the opportunity are those
recent graduates who have a career set up who are able to retire when
opportunity first comes. The opportunity here is relatively difficult to
exploit because it is so hard to tell what the future holds along with the obstacles
and opportunities along the way even if you have everything planned out.
Economic trend 2:
Increase in Climate Change leading to an increase in natural
disasters:
Like the previous trend, I found this over the web on the
same page but have also noticed these occurrences over the news as well as in
person. In the article, one thing they mentioned was the constant flooding in South
Florida which I have witnessed multiple times within the last year during
certain king and high tides. The customer of the opportunity are citizens and
government officials who are familiar with the areas where these natural
disasters may occur. I would say this opportunity is difficult to exploit
because you are dealing with climate change which is difficult to control.
Regulatory change 1:
Gainesville banning plastic straws:
The source of information that led me to this is the fact
that every time I order food, my drink comes with a paper straw. This ban on
plastic straws has angered many students and residents of the Gainesville
community. This information leads an opportunity to exist because Gainesville
is not the only city jumping onto this trend. The prototypical customer here is
one that is either starting up a small business or the natural consumer eating
at a local food joint. The opportunity of bringing back plastic straws is
relatively difficult due to the fact that city officials have banned the use
of plastic straws. I saw this opportunity from the moment I stepped back onto
campus this semester. I believe that the ban should be lifted, and I can strongly
say many people will be behind me on this.
Regulatory Change 2:
New Texting and driving law implemented in Florida:
Last summer, Florida signed a bill that would put a full ban
on texting and driving. If an officer sees you texting while a vehicle is in motion,
then they have the okay to pull you over. While it still is okay to use maps
and check other services like weather, an officer has to make sure its inclusive evidence that you are texting. I first heard of this report from a
few friends and family members that the law would fully go into administration
on January 1, 2020. This information makes an opportunity to create even more ways
to limit someone’s ability to text while behind the wheel. The
prototypical customer in this situation is really anyone (maybe teens) who have
the tendency to grab their phone while driving. I would say this opportunity is
pretty easy to make use of as there may be multiple ways to add onto the new law.
I saw the opportunity mainly because I have a tendency myself to text and drive,
which is something that I am trying to do less of.
Hi Christopher,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opportunity to create more ways to limit people's ability to use their when they are driving. As I am guilty of this myself, I think cellphone and notifications can be a distraction on the road and ultimately leads to traffic safety issues. I also think that there should be more awareness generated for climate change and the promoting of a healthier environment.
